full package build

Just a quick question. We are building a full package for our DV
environment. Should we do this on our Deployment Server in the Planner
environment, or does the environment matter?

I would do it on the deployment server in the DEP7333 environment not the planner environment.

libbi,

full packages should be done on the Deployment Server in the DEPLOYMENT
environment. If you run package builds in the planner environment, users
will not be able to deploy to the workstations because only the planner
database gets updated.

What about update packages? I'm asking as we have been given confliting
information and I need to document as processes.

I don't think it matters wheather or not it's on the Deployment server or a development workstation just make sure that the OS of both the workstation and the Dep server are the same. I have had issues where I build a full form a win 2K workstation and my Dep server is NT and the package crashes, but updates are fine.

If you are building on the Dep server it needs to be in the DEP7333 Env. on a workstation in the Path code you are building for.

We were Originally told by JDE CNC folks that a workstation is better because the places less stress on the Dep server but I honestly think it matters unless you are working with different OS.
