Version Control and OMC Activity Rules

Does anyone have a best practices document on how to set up version control for *Public (all user) except developers.

Default project status 21 to 21
Right now I have the check out from PD7333
For Check in it checks in to PD7333, PY7333 and DV7333. Same for delete. I don't know if I like this. I'm thinking it should just be for PD7333 only. What is everyone else doing?

I there anyway to set it up based on the pathcode the user is logged into?

Patty,

For us OMW is locked out for *Public we have a selected group of users that have access through VB to create versions and they all have a seperate user id that they have to use because it gives them access only to DEV and CRP. Their PD user Id only has access to PROD.

Our OMC is setup so that checks outs arefromf DEV at all times for projects that are at status 21. I also allow my developers to check out in CRP at status 36 but not check in that way all changes are made in DEV always.

If you allow too much changes in PD you are opening yourself up for possibly screwing up something.

Developers can always do a get in PROD to run or test something if thy have to but no check out or checkin.

I did it that way because I wanted to maintain all development changes in DEV.

Hope this gives you some info.

Hi Sully,

There are standards set for this. I too would only let them check back into
DV. I let them check out in other pathcodes but not check back in. I have
it set up so that I can quickly get an object from DV to PY to PD if need
be... so I give them no excuses to anything directly in production.

:) good luck!
