federal express

Has anyone tried to interface the federal express shipping system with JD Edwards. One of my big questions is how I would go about adding the freight charges to the orders.

I'm not a transportation expert, but I know that the tranportation module
(OneWorld only) has all the functionality you need to setup FedEx rate
tables (and even import them). You can even click on a JDE screen and link
directly to the Fedex package tracking system. Freight may be quoted in
order entry and it is added to the order automatically. There's quite a bit
of setup, so let mem know if you need more help, and I can refer you to a
qualified resource.

Cschwobe,

I worked for a company that is using Fed EX with JDE 7332. Fed Ex sent
someone in to do the interface and Freight lines. We use UPS and wrote an
export program to read the UPS file and write them to a JDE file we
created. Then we read that and add the freight charge line to the sales
order.

We did at one client and used flat file to pull the data into the F4211Z and
then add to the line.. it's important to have the Order Number, Company, Doc
type, but I think if I remember correctly the developer added it into the SO
from there...
