OneWorld B732.1 & Windows 2000

Is there anyone out there that is still running live on OneWorld release B73.2.1? One of our sister companies would like to upgrade the Operating Systems on their fat client PC's to Windows 2000. We are wondering if anyone may be running these 2 items together? If so, please contact me as I'm wondering how it's going and if you ran into any problems?

Thank you so much in advance!!!

Your problem will be with the MDAC level, under B7321 is 2.1 and when you
install W2k, mdac will be upgrade at 2.5.
Your OW will run ok on PC but keep in mind you need have the proper version
of ODBC.

Hi!
Thanks for your reply....
Can you tell me what the proper version of ODBC is supposed to be? Also,
how do you achieve it?
Thanks!

-Diane

Diane :

The version of ODBC depends on MDAC you install.

Sebastian

Diane, some MDAC info for you. MDAC (new term for Microsoft ODBC drivers)
and ODBC are the same. You can easily upgrade MDAC but you cannot downgrade.
There is a utility available that says that it can revert MDAC to previous
versions but we have found that to be false as it does not work 100%. We
also have other SQL systems that requires certain MDAC levels therefore if
we upgrade MDAC on the desktop we test it thoroughly. Within MDAC you have
drivers for different database systems such as Oracle and SQL Server. When
you install SQL Server it automatically installs the MDAC driver. Your
desktop is different as you usually don't install SQL Desktop for all users.
You can find within the install of MS Office an option to install SQL MDAC
drivers.

Thanks,

Crawford
