Sending Reports To CSV

Some of our P/Ns have leading 0s which are lost when a report is sent to CSV. Is there any way to retain the leading 0?

Thanks in advance,

Mike Skibyak

If you look at the .csv file OW generates in a text editor, you will see that the leading zeros are in the file. Excel is "autoformatting" it as a number, which causes Excel to "drop" the leading zeros. If you select the column affected and play with Excel's "format->Cell" tool, you should be able to tell it to leave in leading zeros.

Hi,
I agreed with Segfaultreply, if you really want to use Excel to see all the correct value, you can use the Get External Data function in MS Excel. Its located in the DATA menu.

Hope it help.

1. Send the output to text file
2.Start Excel
3. Open the text file . Text import wizard will start.
4. In step 3 of 3 of TIW, select the P/N column and select column data format as text

AW: Sending Reports To CSV

Ok, so this is not a JDE issue per se. However, it originates in a UBE
calling "automatically" Excel. Did anybody find a way how to setup Excel to
format cells into the "Text" format by default? Apparently, when called
"automatically", Excel formats cells into the "General" format, even if a
template with all cells formatted to "Text" for sheet.xlt or book.xlt has
been setup. The template apparently works only when creating / opening a new
worksheet, but not for these "automatic" calls. Is there something which
could be setup in the registry? For .csv, there is a Excel-related entry?
Any Excel or Windows experts out there?

Just asking. I agree that the data import wizard works very well.

Thank you, Nico
