Job Queues on Solaris Saturated

Hi List

We are running XE on a Sun Solaris Platform....
After a shut down of OneWorld, OneWorld Queues get saturated after few days.... Some jobs first error out sporadically in queues then few hours later all queues stop.... Jobs that are processing in queues error out and all other jobs stay in Wait mode.....

The JDE.ini settungs seems to be correct and have been confirmed by JDE....

I have seen a posting in the JDE list dealing with this issue... the solution was fine tuning at the OS level ...... If this is the solution .... What KIND of fine tuning ???

Your help is greatly appreciated as we are turning around and around on this issue.....

I have my test system on Sun Solaris. It works fine.
There is something that looks strange for me in your signature. XE is
supposed to run on Oracle 8i, not 8. What is your version?

We too have a similar issue and the UBEs just crash without warning. Any
advice to Julia's request is appreciated.

What about your semaphores?, We have Oracle 8i and Solaris 7, and in the same machine we have B7331 and XE, during few days we had problems with the UBE on the server, but after to increase some semaphores vaules the problem went away.
I hope this help you, at least is a clue...

Julia,

I only installed Xe once on a Sun system and we had to adjust some
semaphore and/or shared memory kernel settings. Looks like the default
values on sun systems are too small to run OW out of the box, different
from HPUX or AIX.
If I remeber well the max. number of semaphores per user is very low by
default on Sun boxes.

Thanks.... It seems that all I have read so far point to some fine tuning at the semaphore/Shared memory level. I look into it and thanks again for your assistance
