Hi JDELIST
This is the first time, I am applying the service pack. I have downloaded the Client and server executabe (SP18.1) from JDEdwards support site and trying to follow the documentation. I have backed up System, systemcomp and oneworld client install folder. My question is now should I expand the client part on deployment server or expand both.

Thanks

Both of the executables - the "Client" and the Enterprise Server - should be run on the Deployment server.

The Enterprise Server Service Pack will generate a system.Z (or something similar) that will require to be FTP'd to your enterprise server. Ensure you also back up your SYSTEM directory on the Enterprise server prior to expanding the zip file.

Re: RE: Installing SP 18.1

Thanks JDEList for the feedback. Now I have clear understanding on how to apply 18.1. Now I have one more question that if I want to apply one off package like 18.1_B then should I apply immediately after applying 18.1 on Deployment server and enterprise server or should I build the full package after applying 18.1 and then apply 18.1_B and then build full package again.

Thanks

Re: RE: Installing SP 18.1

Vivek,
I have not installed it, but being a "one-off", SP18.1_B probably only replaces a couple of DLL files in your \System\bin32 directory. If it were me, I would apply SP18.1, build an update package that simply recompresses your system.cab file and install it to a test workstation. After verifying functionality, apply SP18.1_B and you can do either of the following...

A) You can manually copy the changed *.DLL's to your test client and verify functionality. If it works, then build another update package that recompresses your system.cab again for deployment to other clients.

or, if you don't like the manual tracking of DLL's...

B) You can make another backup of your System, SystemComp, and OneWorld Client Install. Then, apply SP18.1_B. Recompress the system.cab. Deploy to test workstation. If it works, deploy to all. If it doesn't, restore the directories above, again rebuild the system.cab and then deploy the original SP18.1

That was long winded...but worth reading to avoid two full packages.

Regards.

I just finished installing SP 18.1_B1 all at the same time when I was done I decided to build a full package. However I did this in a Multiple Foundations environmnet, currently it is in testing.
