Hi,

I have a customer B7332 SP11 NT/sql very little custom mods.

Firstly, must i upgrade the B7332 to SP15 b4 upgrade

What is the best combination of SP/Update in people's opinion ?
SP17 XU3 ?
SP18 XU4 ?

Cheers,
Steve Murphy

Steve,

Why do you have to upgrade to SP15 (specifically) before upgrade

As XU* are cumulative, your should go for the latest SP, Planner ESU and
Update ASU

Simon

Steve,
when you start the upgrade, first thing you do is installing Xe on your
DS. From then on you do everything in Xe, on the DS. So there is no need
to change the SP in your B7332 installation.

Make sure you get the latest Planner-ESU !

I would then install the latest SP and Update, that is SP18/XU4. That is
because you will have to do a lot of testing anyway before you go live on
Xe. So you get all the testing normally involved for SP´s and/or XU´s for
free! As you are doing an upgrade, you naturally already have multiple
foundations.

Good luck, Gerd

Hi Steve,
Install SP18 with UPD4. To solve problems it's the best way: install latest patch and SP.

Good luck Gigi

Hi Steve,

I had problem with SP18 and XU4. I would go with SP18.1 and XU4. Tells us after if things went okay.

Hi Adrian
How are you doing. So it seems from your email that SP 18.1 and Update 4 are OK.

We're getting ready to do the upgrade thing here as well. One question (May be slightly off-topic). We're on B7332 SP 10.1/NT4.0sp6a/SQL7.0sp3.
I've never done an upgrade before, and was planning on upgrading to SP 18.1 first, then doing the XE Upgrade. Would it be safer (and/or easier) to just upgrade to XE and then go SP18.1 XU4 instead? I was looking at multiple foundations and reading through the XE Update docs, and noticed that there is no multiple foundation in B7332 (Our current version). So what do you guys think?

TIA,

B7332 sp10.1 SQL7.0 NT 4.0 sp6a
ESU's: All prerequisites, JD5550

Scott :

I've done both ways, and both have ran fine.

Scott,

there is no difference in multiple foundations between Xe and B7332.

When you plan an upgrade, there is nothing you need to prepare in your
old system as far as Service Pack and/or Update is concerned. You should
apply the latest SP and Update AFTER the upgrade is done, before you go
live on Xe.
You will always have multpiple foundation when you do an upgrade.
Multiple foundation basically means having two system directories (in
your case \b7332\system and \b7333\system) and running two sets of OW
services at the same time on different IP ports.
When you follow the steps in the upgrade manual you WILL have multiple
foundations.

Good luck with your upgrade, Gerd

Hi TIA,

You do not have to upgrade your service pack on your B733.2 environment before upgrading to XE. But, once you upgrade, then you upgrade your new XE environment to SP18.1. XE creates a new install so that you can still work in B733.2 in SP10.1 and XE in SP 18.1 no problem.

Hope this helps.
