I am going to upgrade VC++ Service pack 3.0 to 5.0 today evening on the enterprise server. I am just going to apply the service pack 5.0. Has anybody done it before ?

Thanks

I've done it.
Haven't had any trouble, but be aware that C++ SP5 requires MDAC 2.6.

Re: RE: Upgrade VC++ Service Pack from SP3 to SP5

I applied MDAC 2.6 SP1 yesterday and tried to install VC++ Service pack 5 and getting the following error
"Because the setup did not detect any Visual Studio 6.0 products on your system, the service pack will not be installed".
I searched on Microsoft web site and found this error and resolution of the this error is to "Reinstall Visal Studio 6.0".

Can somebody suggest what should be my course of action( Stop JDE services or backup ????)

That's weird! I've install MDAC 2.6 or MDAC 2.6 SP1 and never faced problems
like that.
By the way, you don't need to stop JDE services and I would reinstall C++ on
the same directory.

Hi

I stopped JDE services. Reinstalled C++ and after that I was able to apply the C++ Service Pack 5. Build one Test update package and everything looks ok now. Thanks Sebastian and all other JDE List fellows for the help
