Has anybody moved there configuration from Oneworld B7332 on a Sun Server running Sun solaris and Oracle 8i to a Compaq Server running Windows 2000 Advanced server and SQL 2000 with the same OneWorld configuration.

hi,

what a jump!!!!!
Why not Windows 2000 with Oracle 8i?

Not yet... But seems to be a creative idea!
You shouldn't have any problem if you start by installing your Intel box
as an application server, and then move your data and specs using R98403.

Yes - I've certainly performed Unix/Oracle to NT/SQL conversions.

They are relatively simple - but one has to be careful about using JDE to do the conversion, and I like to use multiple workstations to perform the copy.

I know the flamers will get me for that first paragraph - but to explain, the reason I use JDE Table Conversion is to ensure that the data conversion is cleaned through the Data Dictionary - there is a difference between Nulls and Blanks between ODBC and Oracle databases. Its a LOT simpler to go a little slower and to ensure the data arrives in one piece !

Secondly, the largest tables will take the most time of course - run a sample copy to check to see how long it will take to run through something like F42199 or F0911 - then work out how long it will actually take. If time is a factor, then copy as much as you can inside of JDE and perform direct SQL copies of those larger tables that are left.

However, TC is extremely fast as long as you're on a quick network and you've got fast workstations - I've never heard of any implementation copy taking more than 24 hours - so you should be safe.

Good luck !
