NT File Security

Hi all,

I need to lock down file security better and would like to know
what would be a good setup for the Enterprise server. I know the Admin group needs full access, but what about the average user?

Thanks in advance,
Harry

Harry,

The average user should not need any specific file-level or share-level access to your Enterprise server. They are getting to the database via the JDE Middleware and Net8. When they submit jobs or retrieve output this is being done through the JDENet services. So unless you are using this server as a file server (for instance as a place to store the media objects) there should be no reason to grant them any access.

Harry,

As far as NT file system security is concerned I would not allow any
production user access the ES. There is no need to share any directory
out for average users. Production users access the ES through jdenet and
database access only.

Thanks, Gerd
