BV - How to Keep Checked out

In B7332 and earlier when you checked in a version, you used to have the option of keeping it checked out. Does anyone know if this is still possible in Xe? I have looked and can't find it anywhere.

In Xe, there is something called a token. You can check in the item but until you release the token no one else can do anything with it.

Yep, that I know.

But the functionality I was referring to enabled developers/report writers to keep a local copy of the SPECs so that if the report corrupted on CHECKIN, you could just do repeat the process without haveing to rewrite the whole thing. At least you didn't lose your local copy. Without this flag set, you have to fake a checkout to be able to use the local SPECs. If you have the token after checkin it doesn't mean that you have the specs locally.

What if you setup the save location functionality. This would allow you to
save the object without checking it in.

Checking an object in does not remove it from the local workstation. If corruption were to happen during checkin, you should still have a locally to recover with. It's just that OMW does not allow you to "fake" the check out so easily.

Hopefully, this corruption is a very rare occurrence...So an administrator could use sql to place a check out flag back in the project table for the user to try check in again.
