R98981 Object Librarian Update

Hi List,

I am having problems with R989861, Object Librarian Update.
After copying one set of Central Objects over another, I ran the above
report. All records were copied, only the deployment server´s name
(SIMKEY) got cut off after 10 digits in my F9861 table ( my DS´s name is
14 chars long). I can correct this easily via SQL, I just wonder why this
is happening.
This is an old installation, development is going on, check-in/out or
Object transfer are no problem, packages build fine.
I checked in Machine Identification, created a new DS and was able to
type more then 14 characters for the name, I checked the pathcode master,
all looks ok.

Any ideas anybody? Thanks in advance, Gerd

Hi Gerd,

Take a look at SAR 3808822:

"In B7332, the machine name for the target pathcode will
be cut off at 10 characters when copying F9861 records using
R989861. This sar makes a change to R989861 that will
prevent the truncation of the machine name. "

Thanks Larry.

That´s why I use the LIST.
I called JDE and they knew nothing about it!

Thanks, Gerd

Gerd :

I've had several problems with machine name.
On some tables, OneWorld specifies that machine name is char[10],
on other tables it's char[14].
For example, machine names on JDEDB Caches are created as char[10], but
licenses are kept with char[14]. Lot of errors pop up from that weirdness!
I prefer to keep machine names between 3 and 10 chars, avoid non-British
characters such as 'n' (Spanish) or 'c' (Portuguese), and non alphabetic
symbols like hyphen, underscore, etc.
For example, underscore is a valid Windows character for machine names,
but it's not valid on Windows 2000 DNS domains!
