Planner ESU - help

Hi list,

I'm just starting my XE upgrade from B7331. I'm confused about the instructions of loading this planner esu JD12860. This is my first ESU so bare with me.

I've loaded the XE upgrade cd onto the deployment server(W2K) and set up my custom upgrade plan. THE LOADING OF THE CENTRAL OBJECTS INTO THE ORACLE DATABASE(8.1.6) HAS NOT BEEN DONE YET(LOADALL- it's being done right now). I ran JD12860.exe from the deployment server. I'm looking at the Software installation guide SU7333-051801. This guide is very confusing...it lumps ASU, non-planner ESU all together.

In the special instruction(JD12860),I've created the ODBC for the Internet Code Change. I've done the local part of 4533357,(can't do sys7333 part because it doesn't exist yet), and all of 5088187.

I'm not sure if the planner esu is installed. When I go to GH9612 - P96470 Software updates, the planner ESU is there but no environments appear on the next screen.

Questions:
1.)I'm I done with this esu?
2.)I thought it was a planner esu, why would I update other environments?
3.)By running JD12860.exe did this update the planner pathcode?(I see changes in the some of the .dll and spec file). The example in the update manual doesn't even have jdeplan as an environment.
4.)Do I have to do all of the special instructions for JD12860 before I continue the upgrade ie. running the xe upgrade workbench?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I worked with someone from JDE on this back in December. They said you
run the Planner ESU on the deployment server. This updates the Planner
environment. After you run it you then only need to run it against one
environment, DV7333. I don't have all the details on this but they said
you need to do this to activate the table copies to make new batch
version reports/versions available that might be needed after the ESU is
installed. gm.

Patty :

If you're just beginning the upgrade processes (after installing Xe on
the B7331 Deployment) then you need to execute ESU JD12860 but not to apply
it (yet). It's also a good idea to run LoadAll before JD12860,
just to not forget it!

When you double click JD12860.EXE (or some other Planner ESU) it updates
the \\deployment\b7333\planner directory plus its specs and dll files.

That's the way JDE provides to fix its own bugs on the JDEPLAN/DEP7333
environments, and these fixes are crucial for enjoying a happy migration.

JD12860 needs to be executed (just double click it, let it expand, click
"Next", "Next", "Next"... "Finish" but do not run P96470!) to fix a lot
of bugs found at the Table Conversion and Spec Merge processes that
are executed from JDEPLAN environment.

But you can't apply the ESU (P96470) now because you haven't ran any
plan yet (i.e. : you don't have any valid Xe environment yet).

After executing JD12860 and installed one of the newest OneWorld Client
Service Packs (such as 17.1 or 15.1) you can start to define and
execute your migration plans.

Once your migration plan ends successfully you will have to apply
(P96470) the JD12860, the Xe Update N ASU, and other ESUs you may
eventually need.

Have luck, Sebastian Sajaroff

I Think you are jumping around too much..do everything one step at a time that way you are sure that you are following a defined precess. Complete your upgrade process fully Central Object and everything. Make sure that XE is upgraded completely and successfully, make sure all the pre-req's. are met for the upgrade. Then proceed to apply the Planner ESU.

Hope this helps.

Hi Patty,

Follow the upgrade guide like you normally do but before you start using the Installation Workbench, you must install the planner ESU. Make sure that you do all the special instructions for the ESU.

Freddie,

Regarding ESU JD13860... According to the KG, it has not superceded JD12860, nor does the KG provide release information. Where did you hear about it and how are you sure it is for the planner environment?

Thanks.

Please note any environment which will have ESU's installed via the Software Updates application should have the latest Planner ESU installed.

JD12860 is the latest PLANNER ESU.

JD13860 is not a planner ESU

But is does have some SARs relating to PLANNER in it

I have heard there will definitely be a new planner ESU released this month if it has not been released already.
A JDE Consultant told me that the new planner ESU would be run Table Conversions.

....oouups. You are right, sorry about this. You will need it after applying XU3 before you will build packages. There are some tables starting with F960001..... which are missing for the build.

sorry again

This is not a planner ESU the Special instructions says to be surt that the Planner ESU is installes before you install JD13860.

Here us what it says on the KG

The latest planner update (JD12475 or the
ESU that supercedes it) should be installed
and updated to all environments using the
software updates application.

On todays GSS Web Conference - ESU Best Practices it was noted that the latest Planner ESU was JD13750 released yesterday.
