Check Outs

I'm new to the development world in OneWorld Xe so any help is appreciated. When using the Report Design tool, I've started developing a report. Everytime I get out for one reason or another and later I try to access my report program I get a msg stating the object is not available that the user has it in development. Can someone explain to me what I must do to get back to my objects.

Hi,
I'm also one of the beginners in XE.
1.) Under witch Project have you designed your report in OMW? Is it your Default project or an other one?
2.) What do you mean "I try to acces"? Do you try to continue the design or do you want to run it?
If you will answer then hopefully one of us could help you more.

P.S.: Isn't it a OMW configuration issue? Have you discussed it with your OW system administrator already?

I didn't finish developing my report, so when I tried to continue my development at some later time, I couldn't get my object.

It very well could be an issue on the admin side. I have made calls to our adminstrator. He has yet to call back.

The object is assigned to my default project.

Hi again,
Have you ever checked in your development (your UBE)?
Have you ever saved your development (your UBE)?
Did you try to continue your work on the same machine where you started?
Was OneWorld re-installed on that machine?
Did you signed-on OW into the same environment with the same user ID?

Checkouts:

Object Management Workbench -

Open the OMW (P98220). In order to "access" your report for design purposes
you must add a new project (can do it in default project but I think it is
more difficult since you cannot advance the default project)

- Add the report to your project. Select the report by using the search
window on the right. With your new project highlighted and report selected
on right click the arrow button at the bottom of the screen poiting towards
your project.

- After the report is added to your project you must then check it out.
When the report is checked out you can then modify the report by using the
report design icon in the middle of the Object Management Workbench screen.

- If this is an object that you were working on in One World and did not
check it in before conversion to Xe you may run into problems.

- I think the reason your report is in your default project is that you have
created by directly entering the Report design tool. To update try using
the OMW.

Jing,

When you are developing you must always make sure you are not doing it in
the default project. You can't check the object back in and so you loose
all changes. You need to set up a new project and do your designing from
there.

Thanks and have a great day,

Hi Laurie,
I am currently getting started with XE (working on B7321, B7331, B7332 perviously).
Now, I am confused a bit about the Default Project.
OneWorld documentations (Development Tools, System Administration)
suggest amoung other things that you can use Default Project for prototyping, you can setup save locations to preserve changes instead of check in object, further they state that you can move your developed object into an other project from your default.
I suppose, you have much more experiences in XE, so could you answer me?
Are the mentioned statements true? Does it work really or does not?
Thank in advance,
Zoltán
