Has anybody loaded this and had any problems? We are on cum 11 right now
and want to upgrade, but have just been through conversion 5 months ago and
don't want to introduce any new problems.

Thanks,

Julie,

I can't respond to your Cum 12 question, since we are sitting on Cum 8, but your
post reminded me of a question I have been meaning to ask.

Is there any documentation that describes the changes that JDE has made in each
of the Cum updates. We don't have an "always stay current" policy here and JDE
is not forcing any upgrades, so I will need to justify the effort, but I need
something that describes the enhancements/corrections. The Support Line has
nothing available and I can't find anything in the Knowledge Garden.

TIA.
Phil

Phil,

I just installed CUM12, 2 weeks ago jumping from CUM 6
.
My managment wanted description of the changes for the CUM also. However,
we were told JDE does not have such a document. I told managment, the CUM12
was fixes to known problems plus the updates focused on EURO dollar and
Italian issues. Both the EURO and Italian issues were important to our
enterprise....
Managment excepted this response and allowed us to complete the project.

Hang in there!

we just went from cume 7 to cume 11 and were not able to find anything that
talked about what the differences were, except SAR by SAR.

Are there any signicant differences? Was there a particular issue that needed
to be addressed that drove the decision to upgrade, or was it more of a "we
just need to get up-to-date" decision.

Phil

We just upgraded from cume 7 to cume 11, but applied several Cume 12 SARS to
fix problems in cume 11. There are also some cume 13 fixes to cume 12, etc.
it never ends! Why upgrade unless you are having problems? There aren't
any major enhancements, just mostly bug fixes.

No documentation at all unfortunately. I always thought that would be a
good idea as well.

We have installed Cum12 a few weeks ago. We first installed it to an
alternate env. and only found one serious problem. It is related to the
"Software License Manager". This problem restricted our ability to use Fast
Path commands. A resolution was provided by JD Edwards and things went fine.
If you request a CUM 12 tape from JDE a solution for this problem is sent
along.
Other than this, I am yet to find any other problems.
Best of Luck,

Aren't Cume's fun! I like the comment from suni "Bring back the Rolling Letter!", which is reference to a document that DID attempt to tell you changes but that was way back in 5.2?! Anyway, we don't tend to jump to cumes too fast but did have to go from 8 to 11 recently because of OW co-existance. In years past,I have tried to make heads-or-tails of the "Tech Upgrade Notes" (option 15 when you login as JDEINSTAL) which is actually supposed to tell you what was fixed from cume to cume but it is VERY hard to figure out and you end up sifting through tons of stuff, never sure you are getting what you are looking for. If you have some sort of DFU utility (like Questview) and some time to play with some SQL, look at files F9616, F96163*, F96165 (in JDEINSTAL library) and you might be able to extract what you are looking for. It won't be pretty but I recall getting close the last time I went through this. Remember, you will have to have done a LODRUN on the cume 12 tape in order for the tech upgrade notes to be loaded up for cume 12 stuff. Good Luck!

Several months ago a client of mine on A72C10 was debating moving to A73 or
A81. Couldn't find any release notes for either version - anywhere.
Contacted our local tech support rep and all she could find was Net Change
for A81 - nothing for A73. Not good news, I know.

We just went live with cum12 this weekend - moved from 7.2 cum 8. It took 16 hours from start of update 'til we were satisfied that everything seemed OK.

No show stopping problems found yet. Main problem is attaching bills of materials with lots of phantom parts to workorders. Some SARs that were newly added to cum12 we took back out again. We've started to look at the 170 SARs that are already released to cum13. Biggest frustration was custom mods to programs that seemed totally rewritten - nothing really matched up.

Hi there

rather interested by your feedback. We are planning to move from 7.3 C5 to C12 (belated move!)and needledss to say I am rather puzzled by the number of SARS already released on 12 and 13. You indicate you started to look at the 13 sars release: anything particularly exciting to look for?
Bruno

Well, I have not specifically zeroed in on cume 13 sars. When we discover
a problem, I look first to the knowledge garden rather than trying to figure
out what is wrong from our side. I just look for a matching symptom and it
has worked well so far. So it is imperative that your users get involved
in some rather heavy testing, particularly in AR and AP, PR and HR to work
out those bugs prior to going live.

However, I know the Voucher Match program (P4314) has many problems in it.
but again, I have only installed fixes to problems that we have. I've taken
the path to introduce as few unknowns as possible and just try to pick the
ones that are pertinent. This has pros and cons too, of course due to
having a mishmash of cume levels. We just try to keep SVR updated with the
cume and/or SAR number to help document things. Sometimes they are
dependent on other SARS in that same pgm or elsewhere and it quickly becomes
spaghetti. But, things are settling down now and haven't had any new
problems all week! This is a good thing.

Many of the sars are also related to cume 9 (conversion to the EURO) and
multicurrency issues. This doesn't affect us, thankfully. The other heavy
thing I see is co-existence issues, also not affecting us. Going to cume 12
is your better bet, but keep an eye on the product breaking news on the
knowledge garden; this has helped me.

Good luck!
Suni

I would imagine that the majority of the SARs are Y2K fixes.

Just be glad you aren't on cume 11! I'm STILL digging out of the paper
fixes we have had to apply. Cume 11 (so far) has had more paper fixes
required (for us) than ALL OTHER CUMES WE HAVE APPLIED IN THE PAST INCLUDING
A5.2 AND A6.2. We went from cume 8 to 11 and had I known at the time, I
would have waited for 12. Easily 90% of the fixes I'm doing say they are
fixed in 12! Hindsight...
