There's a great way to find out what tables contain a particular data item,
what forms use a data item as a variable, what UBE's use a data item, etc.

This great facility is the Cross Reference Facility (P980011). It takes
several hours to build (It took me 10 hours using 3 PIII 733mHz
workstations) but it's well worth the trouble.

Hi Michel,

Check the F98711 "Table Columns" table with the UTB (Universal Table Browser). Type the alias of the data item (field) into the TDOBND field of the QBE line and hit Find. Check the TDOBNM column for the tables that contains this data item (field).

Hope, could be a bit of help.

Try using the Cross Reference Facility (P980011)on menu GH902. This
information needs to be built before you can use it. There is a document on
the Knowledge Garden on how to build it and how to use it.

Michel,

Just an addition to my previous reply.
The specification of tables rarely could be different under different Path Codes. If you want to check this then open F98711 table in different Central Object data sources belonging to different Path Codes.

Michel MAUREL,

(in B733)

Fast Path to GH902
Open Cross Reference Facility
-- to find tables in which the alias resides, open TABLES USING DATA ITEMS
-- to find applications in which the alias resides, open INTERACTIVE
APPLICATIONS USING A DATA ITEM AS A VARIABLE or FORMS USING A DATA ITEM.

Hi Zoltan,
Oh yes it helps !
Many thanks for the answer, from which I learn at least one half of my answer.
But for the time being the F98711 file is empty. And on my standalone I only find one location.
However I will try on monday on a fat customer PC.

The other half I need is to know how to have the F98711 file feeded.
May be I need to tun a batch to populate this file.
If yes, which batch R98xxxx .

Thanks in advance

Michel
