Xe Upgrade...

Hi list...
I'm in the process of planning the upgrade from B7332 to Xe; in the Upgrade
and migration guide, there´s a section "Upgrading the One World Databases",
it explains how to creatae the database and load the central objects... the
question is:

Do I need to create a separate set of databases to transfer the data from
the actual production databases to, or should I use the existing set of
databases (central objects and data databases)???

OW B73.3.2 SP 16.1 / NT 4.0 Sp 6a/ SQL 7.0 (XE and Win2000 soon)

Greetings.

If your current system set up according to JD Edwards standards out of the box the answer is:
Use the scripts provided by JDE to create new databases for Central Objects for each pathcode, and JDE7333(this contains the XE System tables, Object lib, DataDict…) You don’t need to create new Databases for Business data and Control Tables because these will be converted in place

If your current system is not setup according to JD Edwards standards the answer is:
It depends!
Many customers have customized their database setup for performance and or stability. For example you may have your production environment on a completely different Database or even a separate Computer their development environment. If you have a non standard setup you will need to “customize” the upgrade process.
