ODBC\'s and Packages

Hello,

When doing a client install for a OW/SQL Server 2K instance, the ODBC connections are brought to the client automatically. I see that the ODBC connections get their information from the connections set up on the Deployment Server. I am trying to figure out when, exactly, these ODBC settings are tied to the package. For instance, I made a few changes to the Deployment Server ODBC connections and then installed on a client a package built BEFORE the ODBC changes. I am seeing this package overwrite my new ODBC changes with the old information. If I were to build a brand new package on the Deployment Server, would my new ODBC connections be tied to it?

The Client ODBC settings come from a file called "ODBCDataSource.INF" under the "Client" folder on the Deployment Server.
The Deployment Server ODBC settings are not used as a template for the Clients.

I have been told that the "ODBCDataSource.INF" file is updated by the Installation Plans, although I haven't tested this.

The ODBCDataSource.INF file will be updated if you
make your ODBC changes on the Deployment Server from
Work With Datasources.
