AS/400 Enterprise Server Capacity - One World

We are adding 50 new concurrent users to our current load of 20 users - with
an enterprise server on a dual processor 720 with 2 gig of memory. We have
almost all users connected via a terminal server farm w/ Citrix. We run
distribution and financial modules.

Can anyone speak to the performance of this size AS/400 enterprise server
when 70 users are active? We are aware that there are other variables, but
any general observations on this type of load would be helpful.

Thanks

We are live with 2 processors on a 730. We originally had 2 GB of memory but decided to add another 2 GB. I would recommend that you do this as OneWorld with terminal server tends to use a great deal of the enterprise server's memory.

I am curious about the part of your message that
speaks of Terminal Server sessions using more
Enterprise Server memory. Can you elaborate?

Brother :

W environments (such as WPD7333) execute all their BSFNs and UBEs on
the Enterprise Server, that's why W environments demand more resources
(basically CPU and memory) on the Enterprise.
Master BSFN usually open memory caches to handle table i/o and these
caches can be quite large (more than 64 Kb each). Think on 200 hundred
simultaneous users opening a dozen of tables each and running their
own UBEs there!
J environments (JPD7333) have the same restrictions.
W and J environments lower the Terminal/Java Server hardware requirement
at the expense of having a "bigger" Enterprise.
Regular environments (such as PD7333) usually execute all their
BSFN locally and UBE may run either on the Enterprise or locally.
