Serialization

Hi List,

Does anybody have any interesting stories about using the options to assign
serial numbers manually and force serialization at all steps
(ie Receiving, Assembly, Shipping)

OneWorld seems somewhat week in this area from what i've seen to date. I would
like to hear about ways you've used serialization.

One of our biggest concerns is as follows:

We order 20 serialized boxes of computer chips each box contains 5 serialized
chips
the boxes are serialized as

ex. the as serial 006919-0100 the chips append to that number 0001 thru 0005 for
each chip
therefore the full serial number of each chip in the box would be as follows:
006919-0100-0001
006919-0100-0002
006919-0100-0003
006919-0100-0004
006919-0100-0005
another box would read:
006920-0225-0001
006920-0225-0002
006920-0225-0003
006920-0225-0004
006920-0225-0005
We know that the third segment identifying the individual chip will always be
number 1 thru 5

ANY IDEAS ON HOW WE CAN SCAN JUST A BOX NUMBER 006919-0100 AND HAVE JDE
AUTO-APPEND THE THIRD SEGENT NUMBERING 1 THRU 5????

IF NOT WE WOULD NEED TO OPEN EVERY BOX AND SCAN EVERY CHIP!!!!!

What data collection solution are you using? You might be able to
incorporate this type of logic into the transaction on the RF side?
