Business is facing problem while printing the invoice o/p thorugh CreateForm Director.
Report is running on scheduler and taking much time to print them sometimes taking several days in month end process due to large number of invoices.
Approximately it is taking 50-60 sec to print a single page which inclued Invoice split and Email to the customers.

Thanks in advance.

What versions of Create!form apps are being used? What is the server version?

Has the server been rebooted lately? Sometimes just a reboot can clean things up and get the server working better.

Is the printer that Cdirector is sending the print jobs to configured to print PCL? Printing to PCL printers (especially large jobs) can be slow. The native print language of Create!form is PostScript. If the CformServer printer is configured as PCL the job has to be converted from PostScript to PCL before it is sent to the printer.

Another thing to look at is the size of the job that gets sent to the printer. Do you have logo's or graphic images included in the design that are making the size of job (in bytes) larger than necessary?

Is the Cdirector splitting the job before sending it to the printer? Doing that causes individual print jobs to be sent to the printer. The printer winds up and winds down for each print job reducing print speed.

Thanks Karen for reply.

Job having the Logo/graphics, and also splitting on Invoice Number. How to convert from PostScript to PCL as printers are PCL.

Umesh,

If the printer was PCL the document wouldn't be printing correctly at all. The only way I could see that working is if there is something sitting in between the PostScript that the CformServer generates and the printer that is converting PS to PCL.

What is the printer you are printing to (manufacture & model)? Does it support PostScript printing?

You need to take a look at how you have the job configured in Cdirector. Is there a valid reason you are splitting the job before sending it to the printer?

When you take one job that contains 10 invoices and split it, that results in 10 individual print jobs getting sent to the printer. The printer will "start up" and "wind down" for each print job. If those 10 invoices are sent in one job, the printer "starts up", prints 10 documents then "winds down".

Here's the quick and easy breakdown:

There's only 2 Create!form server engines
- They're both on the server hosting Create!form.

Create!form Server 6.x (Director)
- open it like any other app: Start > programs > etc
- Double click Director printer (it must have a green check!)
- Output is probably PS, leave it this way! (for printing)

Create!form Server 3.x
- Open it the same way
- Double click printer your printing to (must have green check)
- Change output format to either PS or PCL
- If changing to PCL, then choose Win Driver option on right.
- Make sure the same Win printer (same server) is also using PCL driver

Changing it back to PS is just the other way around.

Other than this, test either splitting or not splitting in Director Project
- Its worth it.

If your still having a problem:
- The Form Project may not be built correctly OR
- Your using large graphic(s) in your form project OR
- Theres a problem with either communicating with this printer or the settings on it.

I also recommend reading the manual in Cform Server 3.x > Help > User guide
(simple fast reading)

Hello Mark,
When I am clicking on Create!form Server 6.x, its removed the Project path from Create!form Server 3.x.
In Create!form Server 6.x showing all Red Mark and in 3.x showing all Green Mark.
Now we change the Printer Property from PCL to PS and its under testing.

Umesh
