Nasty 8.98.4.5 surprise on P09200

Hi All,

Be forewarned.. there was a change on 8.98.4.5 that breaks P09200 in some cases. We were utterly puzzled why the screen would not display detail information after clicking "Find". It turns out that with the tools change, a like command changed from '%' to '*'.

Anyways, Oracle is aware and has a ESU for the problem. I don't know if this affects all platforms, databases, but it really took some poking around using old school methods to find it.

Morglum666,

Do you have the ESU? We'd like to make sure the issue is tracked on our side, too.

(db)

Here's the ESU for 8.12. It's available in 9.0 too.

* ESU JK20330 SAR 8943529 Bug 11024678 "P09200 Blank Subledger"

Basically for at least that application whatever funky way the database is called, the SQL like command changes from '%' to '*" - totally breaking it. If this interaction between tools and apps were more common, the whole app would break.

Related: We also hit this really ugly problem where email links are being shortened and it killed our procurement email functionality. See this comment from oracle if you upgrade to 8.98.4.5 (or later):

In Expense Management we have created a bug requesting the URL created to be shorter to work with the encryption routine. So this is an application bug.

Tools created a workaround to enable customers to turn off encryption. Bug 11034110: TURN OFF SHORTCUT ENCYPTION - SAR: 8953474

Bug deposition:
After SAR 8939510, encrypted shortcut URL can still be longer than 1033 when the data is too large. We have provided a way to turn off shortcut encryption. Shortcut encryption can be turned off by setting the following setting in Enterprise Server jde.ini:

[JAS PREFERENCE]
ShortcutEncryption=Off

Proving once again the leading edge tends to be the bleeding edge, too...
