Error installing Platform Pack - Oracle not found

I am installing a new Enterprise / DB server on a Windows 2008 R2 server. I have installed Oracle 11.2.0.1 on the server and verified the installation. When I start the platform pack installation, I select Oracle as the database type and receive an error stating "The installer could not find Oracle on this machine". The install log does not show any errors.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this error?

It sounds like you do not have the oracle client, as opposed to the database itself.

I was able to get around this problem by opening the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node and adding a key named Oracle.

The platform pack installer then worked normally.
