Would like to learn Enterprise One and have a spare server. Can I install everything on Windows Server 2003 with SQL Server 2005 or should I use VMware and configure 2 servers with Deployment on one and everything else on the other?

There is a standalone version. We just came off VMware and 2003. Our Deployment server was on a separate box, but you can configure the system for one box. 2008 is required starting with 8.98.4.

I'm a newbie; so wait for the experts to chime in.

Hi,

Yes, it's perfectly possible.
Here's the configuration I used

Box 1

W2003 SP2 32-bits VM Box (2 CPUs, 6 Gb RAM, 120 Gb disk)
JDE Deployment E900 Update2 + Tools 8.98.3.4
MS SQL Server 2005 SP3 for the data sources
WAS 6.0.2.27 Base
Visual C++ .NET 2005 SP1
Adobe Reader X
SSE for Deployment Local database
Intel Platform Pack
Server Manager Agent 8.98.3.4

Note : check that your SQL Server and SSE databases
are configured on different TCP ports.

Box 2 :

Windows XP SP2 Professional, 2 Gb RAM, 1 CPU, 40 Gb disk
Fat Client (for administration) with SSE local db
Server Manager Console 8.98.3.4
Visual C++ .NET 2005 SP1
Adobe Reader X

Hi,

Please, note that this kind of configuration (all in
one box) is not supported by JDE, it's barely
acceptable for training or learning purposes (because
of its slow performance) but don't expect to use it
on a Production/Live environment.
