Oracle 11g R2

We are planning to upgrade our database from Oracle 9i to Oracle 11g R2 on AIX 5.3 server. We are on EnterpriseOne 8.12 Tools Release 8.97.1.2.

As per MTR, supported versions are Oracle 10g R2 (10.2.0.4) and Oracle 11g R1 (11.1.0.7)

Please let me know if any of you are on Oracle 11g R2.
If you are using Oracle 11g R2, are you having any major issues?

One of our DBA told that there are lot os patches required to install for 11g R1.
Please let me know if any of you are on Oracle 11g R1.
If you are using Oracle 11g R1, did you face any issues with 11g R1?
