jde900 user in Platform Pack install on Linux

Hello folks, I just would like to ask if the user "jde900" needs to be created first before installing the platform pack or this will be created by the install process. This requirement seems to be not consistent across different Unix flavors: for example, for HP/UX you need to create this user beforehand but for AIX/RS6000 you don't need this. There was no mention for this requirement on the 9.0 install guide for the Linux platform so I assume that this is not required but I would like to know from the experts.
