AS400: OMW and Deployment Server Turned Off

Problem Description: If we have the deployment server down for any reason and users attempt to use OMW, they cannot get in even though we have Central Objects on the AS400.

We tried changing the client jde.ini

[Explorer]
ExplorerHomeURL=\\ONEWORLD\E811\SolutionExplorer\PortalLite\index.html
to
ExplorerHomeURL=

Did not work. We then copied the portal lite files to the local client and tried:
ExplorerHomeURL=file:///C:/e811/NoDeploymentServer/index.html

That did not work either. Not sure what the client is looking for, perhaps the local security files (jdeappnui, jdeauthuni, jdemoduni) or the registry is looking for something on the deployment server.

Is there anyway to get OMW to work with the DS off?

Central objects can be located on the 400, as ours are as well, but the source and header files, among many others, still need to be stored and accessible on your deployment server.

Perhaps you should invest more effort in keeping that deployment server up and running . . .

True, but if it's simple changes like report UBE version changes, I didn't think they need access to header files and such on the DS.

Thanks for the reply.

It's probably something else, but here are a couple of overlooked areas:

1) There is a Media Object Queue for OMW. Are your Media Object Queues pointed to the Deployment Server as most people's are?

2) When you start OMW, is the Search/News pane showing a "Welcome to OMW" type page, or a "File not Found" type of page? If it's the former, then it is certainly looking for a file on the Deployment Server.

#1 is what I overlooked, thanks. I'm looking into that now but the Processing Options for the OMW App P98220 call for a Media Object Queue which is on the DS.

Thanks.
