Bi Publisher xml extract

We have a new test environment 8.12 with Tools release 898 and BI publisher das server.
I am looking at using the integrated bi for our payslips.
I cannot get them to generate xml outside the workbench.
Has anyone been able to do this?

Have you associated the RD with the version in the Version Detail screen for the pay slip version?

I found out how to do it.
As the report is custom made well before my time i was unable to find out the processes required.
I did find that if i set the report to burst by default xml is output. I then was able to get the xml create my template and finalise the report.
