I'm about to visit the IBM site to see if I can find an answer as to what this signifies.

I decided to ask here PRIOR TO digging, looking for a "quick" answer.
(OK, I'm also being LAZY, er "resourceful")

There is an "idiot light" displaying on the client's iSeries control panel.
It's an amber exclamation point.

I'm guessing that it can mean any of numerous things.
I'm also guessing that NONE of those things are "good".

Their OS is V5R3M5 L00 (as shown by DSPPTF).

Can anybody provide a answer as to what it might mean?

(I'm now off to IBM.com to do my "due diligence" research.)

Please AND Thanks

Gene,

That is called the System Attention Light. It means an error has been recorded in the Service Action Log and requires attention. If it is a partitioned machined, the SAL is accessed through the Service Focal Point of the HMC. If it is a single partition box, the SAL is accessed via SST, Hardware Service Manager.

Definitely call IBM for support since you are not familiar.

Sometimes this light is on for something as simple as the console was powered off. After reviewing the log, if that is all it is, you can turn it off through SST.
