Tools 8.98.2.0 (Security History)

Folks,

We recently upgraded our toolset from 8.96 D1 to 8.98.2.0. We had an issue in 96 where when we turned on security history it started throwing errors in security kernels e.g. below.

We logged a case with oracle and were told this would be fixed in 8.98. After the upgrade we again enabled the same and we are still getting those errors as below.

Also what we noted in addtion to this is on our batch server where all the ube's are running we have more than 5000 log files. When we researched we found that for each entry in the Security Kernel for errors below and the associated PID there is a correponding log file created with the same name i.e. jde_PID.log with just one line in the log (API ipcSawUnregisterProcV1 : process 9400 unregistered in entry 14). Hence every time there is an entry in the Security Kernel in the log there are log files created and hence the no of log files is huge.

Due to this the SM console takes a long time to open the main ES page.

Any ideas/ suggestions guys?

Thanks,
CNC Guy

Hi,
I read in an Oracle post that with 8.98.2 they did a change which allowed the security kernel to manage the login time in mili seconds better.

Did you use server manager to enable security history or made the change directly in the JDE.INI. I made a mistake once of directly updating the JDE.INI with History=True instead of History=1

Yep that's what we thought as well but it din't. Also we changed using SM only and the Value is indeed 1 and not True.

Also we have not seen this large no of log files being reported anywhere. Aren't they related?

Thanks,
CNC Guy

According to solution id 826081.1 this is fixed with 8.98.1.2. So with your tools release the fix should have been included. Were there any special instructions to be followed. I have worked with 8.98.1.1 where it is still an issue.

I forwarded your post onto our CNC Administrator for him to check impact here, if any. We too also just completed upgrade to 8.98.2 and must say so far we are TOTALLY PLEASED with the improvements to integrity, transaction completion, kernel processing, and speed.

On which Tools Release were you before upgrading to 8.98.2 Terry?
