Create Excel Templates for BI Publisher

Does anybody know of documentation/samples of how to create Excel Templates (XML Publisher Object Type = TL)?

In the Oracle document "JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 8.97 XML Publisher" Chapter 3 "Creating JD Edwards XML Publisher Objects", it says that Excel templates need to be created manually using MS Excel, but there is no reference on where to get more information.

On Oracle's support site, I found "Creating BI Publisher Templates for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne [ID 748364.1]" but it only talks about creating RTF Templates.

I am working with 8.11SP1/8.97

Any advice would be great! Has anybody else setup Excel Templates?

Hi I do had the same problem.
I was able to create RTF templates and upload them and usethem without any problems. But when i create Excel template I dont have an option to load XML data as MS word.
I have donethe following:-

1. Created a blank excel file.
2. Uploaded to XML repository.
3. submitted the report
4. Saved the XML source.
5. Opened the Excel template.
6. In Excel 2007 clicked on Developer
7. Clicked on Source
8. Mapped the XML file
9. It popped up with do you wanted to create XML Schema?
10. Clicked Yes. Now all the Fields are available in the right pane.
11. I dragged the desired fields
12. Right click and refresh. all the data was filled.
13. Saved the template.
14. uploaded back to XML repository.
15. Submitted the report.
16. Report Ends with XML Publisher Error. No output.
Please let me if any additional steps are required to define templates in Excel.
also if we upload Excel template the available option for output is onlye excel other outputs are disabled.
