AS/400 Central Objects

I was just informed from support that if you have your central objects on the AS/400, your client access express ODBC settings for Central Objects should be set for Do Not Translate. This pretty much goes against what the installation documentation states. I cannot find any documentation to back up what support is telling me. If this is the case, can someone explain why are they set to DNT?
