Server Manager SLOWWWW with WebSphere Cluster

Hello,

We have configured a websphere cluster across 3 physical servers with 3 jvms on each physical system, for a total of 9 jvms. When we try to access the user sessions in Server Manager, it takes an EXTREMELY long time for the display to come back. I realize that it has to read the info from each JVM, and this is causing the issue, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to speed this up??

just wait until you have 4 web servers and a total og 24 JVM's.

Right now you have nothing to complain about!

You can increase the JVM heap and all that good stuff for Server Manager since it is just OAS but regradless it's not gonna win any land speed contest anytime soon.

Hi,

In my opinion... Server Manager is more of a nuisance
than a useful tool, I don't see it adds any value to
my installations.

1. Most (if not all) of the JAS information provided by
SM can be retrieved by SAW (and it's much faster!)

2. SM hangs up quite frequently

3. Enterprise Server information is painfully slow,
takes several minutes to display a list of 55 kernels
from one of my servers, to finally show the same as SAW.

4. Doesn't provide any information about FAT / WTS clients,
which are still the norm on B8.9 & E8.10

5. It depends on the infamous SM Agents, which also tend
to hang up, typically when retrieving kernel information
from Enterprise Servers.

6. It adds unnecessary complexity and instability to the
installation processes, who hasn't had a crash during
JAS installation via SM? And what happened later??
I prefer installing my JAS and E1 Tools via native
commands like we did until 8.96

7. It provides JDE.INI editing tools, but this is very
easy to accomplish with native server commands
like Notepad, vi or EDTF.

I agree.

It also has its own bugs and tricks, hides some settings, makes assumptions behind your back, etc. - the list can go on forever. It's effectively an extra pair of glasses we have to wear now ("one size fits all?") and the one we probably don't need.

Much like the WEB interface ;-) For those who disagree I have three words: I E 8...

BTW, SAW's gone from the latest releases - you _have_ to use EM for that now.
