We are XE V5R3, AS400 Enterprise server and Windows servers.
I would like to limit the size of the JDE_xxxxxx.log that is created and stored in the IFS when the UBE is run on the AS400.

We archive the "PDF's" from the AS400 to a windows server, due to the limitation of 32,767 members in the PRINTQUEUE table. We also archive the .LOGS but sometimes they can exceed 1 GIG (Developer and data issues).

Any ideas how to do this?

Dave

Hi,

Quite an interesting problem...

What would you like?

1. At the moment the file reaches 1.0 Gb, OS/400 returns
some file system error so JDE would be unable to keep
writing to the log (I'm 99% sure that your job would
be left in E status).
2. Run some routine maintenance to clean up all logs
larger than 1 Gb?

This isn't possible, to my knowledge. Even if it were, as noted, your JDE job would probably end in error if it were unable to write to the log file.

We also archive our PDFs, but only from production. We don't archive log files at all. They can get quite large, and most of them contain only moderately useful information.
