On Tuesday evening, April 15th, the Quest Technology SIG, OAUG Middleware SIG, OAUG Database SIG and IOUG Leaders are hosting our third annual Geek Meet.

This is a great way to catch up with your old techie friends from past years and meet new ones! Our reception is just a quick walk across the street to the Hyatt Regency after the Exhibitor Showcase cocktail hour, so you can continue the fun with us with even more great food, drinks, games, prizes and fun! A Geek Meet button is required to attend.

We are pleased to announce that Oracle Technology Network will be running an Oracle on Linux installfest as part of Geek Meet this year. Come and learn about installing Oracle Enterprise Linux 4, Oracle Database 11g, Fusion Middleware 10g and Oracle VM. Media will be available for you to take back and install after the conference. If you wish to bring your laptop and install the software during the installfest, we suggest that you preinstall Oracle Enterprise Linux first. You can download Oracle Enterprise Linux by following the links on http://otn.oracle.com. There are helpful installguides at http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/install/index.html (2GB RAM recommended if you plan on installing the database and the application server on the same machine.)

Geek Meet buttons (party passes) will be distributed during the following sessions:
OAUG Database SIG Sunday April 13, 9:45-10:45, Room 404
OAUG Middleware SIG Sunday April 13, 1:00-3:15, Room 404
Quest Technology SIG Monday April 14, 9:45-10:45, Room 605, What's going on in Quest's Technology SIG #44200

Please note, this is a private, invite only event.

We look forward to seeing you at this year's Geek Meet

Hey Bill,
The buttons are how we ensure that we don't exceed the room capacity.

So it really depends on whether we give them all away at the Tech SIG general session whether we will have any left over.

We will be asking that only people who will really attend the Geek Meet take the buttons as we know that there are other vendor events happening on Tues night and it is also the only 'free' night so people might have other plans.

(Patty and I got some interesting answers last year to our question 'are you free on Tuesday night' when we gave out the buttons)

So we don't really know if we will have any left after the Monday morning session or not until it happens. Best bet is to be at that session - which will be fascinating and entertaining anyway so why would you want to be anywhere else?

I'm sure exceptions can be made in the right circumstance. Say for long time Tech SIG members, who know what a SIG Forum is, or something like that.

It will really depend on room capacity.

Sue.
