ERP8 Multi-foundations questions

I am trying to get a handle on Multi-Foundations an would like a little advice.

We are currently on ERP8 SP22S1 and are badly in need of a tools upgrade, I am about to embark on embark on installing SP23U1 or what ever is current. In order to test I am looking at installing mullti- foundations and have a few questions.
1. We have a handful of power users who develop their own reports, the guide recommends against having OMW cross the different tools releases. Should I freeze development or simply have them design new versions and report in production until the migration is complete.

2. Upon completion what strategy do you use, Should we keep both foundations around for testing future SPs, if so will this require the ongoing use of the snapshot tool by all users who access Development and Prototype environments.

Thank you

Hi Kenney,

0. Before starting with SP23U1 or whatever, check current
MTR for OneWorld Xe.

You'll have to mount a server with WAS 6.0 (WAS 4.0.5
is from Paleolithic period), I'm almost sure you'll have
to install a later SP for your Deployment and Enterprise
OS (i.e. : W2000 is no longer supported), for your DB,
C Compiler, MDAC level, check Internet Explorer on
the Web clients, etc.

So far, I had very little trouble developing objects
across different JDE Service Pack levels; however, I
found some compiling problems when testing BSFN and NER.

They're usually due to the fact that a newer service
pack brings new .H files on your system folder.

I strongly recommend against modifying directly the
objects in Production, paraphrasing AC~DC I might say
"it's a highway to (JDE)Hell".

Once the Service Pack upgrade is completed, you should
keep that MultiFoundation architecture, it will be
useful for the next Service Pack test.

Have a nice day
