FAILED JDE PROJECT

Or, more likely the spinoff was the right idea to get a dead horse off the books. . .

ALF's problems were not confined to computers. In an affidavit supporting the company's first-day motions with the bankruptcy court, William Snyder, a financial adviser to ALF and its proposed chief restructuring officer, said ALF had "experienced significant financial losses" and shrinking sales in its two years as a stand-alone company.

I remember when Oshkosh came into JDE to purchase OneWorld - I gave them a presentation that helped to close the deal back in 1998 or so. Didn't know that ALF was part of that implementation - and, to be honest, I didn't think Oshkosh was still a JDE customer. Absolutely not surprised about IBM's involvement in a bad implementation though !

Actually, this isn't a JDE project. After doing some research, its obvious that most of the inventory system is on an Oracle eBusiness Suite - not on JDE.

As can be seen on this page :
http://www.oaug.org/communications/publications/enews/2007/2007-08-09.htm
ALF became a member of the Oracle Application Users Group. I also checked out their website - and there is a link to an Oracle Application Server, not a JDE Application Server.

Oshkosh trucks was certainly once a JDE customer - but unless someone else has any further information on this, this is an Oracle / IBM issue - and nothing to do with JDE.

I don't believe ALF is part of Oshkosh Truck. Oshkosh Truck is still on JDE. They do have a fire truck division - Pierce in Appleton, Wisconsin, that is also running JDE.

I hereby stand corrected. The point of this post was . . . "IBM Sucks."

=)

Your post comes off as flamebait.

The title is completely wrong. I don't work for IBM but I have worked with them in the past and they were as good or better at JDE implementations as any other Big 4 consulting group. I don't think you can generalize about how any ERP project goes. Sometimes companies just reject a project internally for the sake of protecting their own jobs.

I think you're biased. IBM is no worse than any other Big 4 consulting organization working with JDE. Of course, they're no better either. A large number of Big-4 implementations end in lawsuits.

Isn't that what I wrote?

What "bias" are you referring to? IBM is not considered Big-4, for all intents and purposes.

Oshkosh, Pierce, McNeilus are still all on JDE.
