I installed a new terminal server and seem to be getting disconnect errors on the database.

The setup is windows 2003, Presentation Server 4.0 with the latest rollups. I did the security changes to the \b7 folder and the files in the root of c drive.

I can log on with no problems to JDE but I intermittaly get these database disconnect errors.

I am already run two other servers with the same setup that I installed a year or so ago with no problems. The only differance

This is what get in the jde.log

The first thought is: have you set the Client Connection utility to connect via TCP/IP instead of Named Pipes? From the error messages, I am assuming that your database is SQL Server 2000.

I checked that to make sure and the names pipes are there. all of my Fat clients work fine and my two existing terminal servers work fine.

But was it configured for TCP/IP? JDE has generally preferred that connections to SQL Server be made via TCP/IP, and not Named Pipes. I have seen Solutions as recently as 2005 that say to use TCP/IP.

If this does not solve the issue, you can always change it back, but the searches I conducted just now mostly say the same thing.

I had similar issue with TS and finaly found that it's caused by windows
firewall.
Try following:
- uninstall latest windows service pack
- reconfigure windows firewall
- turn off windows firewall

Hi LP

So far uninstalling Windows 2003 SP2 seems to have fixed my problem. I have about 10 users testing the box today but so far today they have had no errors.

I will let you know in a day or so if I get any more errors.

I wonder if a later SP for JDE (currently on SP21) will allow the running of Windows 2003 SP2.
