Is there any use of MSDTC to JDE databases

Hi,

We will be migrating our JDE from old w2k server to new w2k3 servers on a clustered environment using sql 2000 server. we are also looking at upgrading the sql2000 to sql2005 in the future. Previously, we installed msdtc because it was specifically indicated in the IBM redbook reference. But since no documentation is available for w2k3/sql2000, we need to know now the specific use of each component that will be installed to the system.

Would there be any use of msdtc for JDE? Hope to get some advice from the experts out there. Thanks.

MSDTC is required for clustering. It is not required for JDE - but for the back-end database. If you are continuing to use clustering with SQL2005 then you will need to set it up with MSDTC since that "co-ordinates" the transactions between the cluster nodes. Hope that answers you.

This confirms my understanding of MSDTC. Thanks.
