I too, have seem an abundance of this error... Using OMW.

I have been studying the issue... and it appears to be an IO problem,
apparently network.

I usually see it take place when I have a lot of IO on my Ethernet port
(watching the blinking lights using W2K Pro). If I wait for the IO to stop,
I rarely get the error message (but that doesn't stop it).

Additionally, Have you noticed... that if you get the message... say while
working with a UBE... and you try to open the object... it tries to open it
with a different design aid? (usually Table Design Aid)??

Exiting OMW and going back in usually resolved the issue. Reboot does fix
the issue (until it happens again?).

You are not alone. The truth is out there?

Upgrade to a higher service pack -- we had the problem constantly
until we went to 14.2. 15 is the only one available right now, as they've
stopped providing 14.2 and won't have 15.1 for GA until next week, as
far as I know.

Hi,
If you get this error generally when somebody press the Visual Assist button on a grid then Check-Out the "OMN-00-0004" documentation from the Konowledge Garden.
Abstract of it is:
"This problem could occur when a visual assist button was pushed and the grid on the next form came up right over the visual assist button on the first form. This error may appear on the first time the visual assist is clicked or may appear after it has been pressed a few times."
Resolution of it:
"Apply SP14 to correct the error."

I have to tell that we had the same problem where I have made some development on P0411 (some logic on a new/custom/ Grid Column, including a bit play with Visual Assist event too).
We installed SP14 but the problem remained, so I had to duplicate my logic as Row Exit. Maybe a higher SP level really clear up this problem.

Good luck,
Zoltán

I believe your problem may be related to the jde.ini cache setting. I've
seen this issue on the forum within the past six months. You may want to do
a forum search on the subject. Wish I could help more. I'm sure you'll
have other responses.

Re: RE: Error Message

Hi Walt & Issue Originator
I copy the mentioned settings here from one of my earlier reply sent on 11/16/00 12:21 PM.
======================================================================
One more tip:
Modify your client and server JDE.INI setting increasing the value from 15 to 20
[DB CACHE INFORMATION]
Library CACHE=20
Allegedly it could cure some of memory violations, maybe yours too.
Please, let us know if it works.

Some addition:
1.) Searching for "Library CACHE" on the archives you can find more threads, posts relating this settings (on All Forum!).
2.) I am not sure, but if I remember well then I have heard something that this setting could help only on prior XE. But you can try it on XE too.

Good luck,
Zoltán

Hello Tet-

I hope all is well for you these days!

Look for a setting in the client jde.ini:

[DB CACHE INFORMATION]
LibraryCache=20

Put this in if it's not there already and see if this helps.

Regards,
David

RE: RE: Error Message

The DB CACHE setting is only for SP 11.3 and lower

Simon

Hi List,

We too have experienced this error message. We have some Windows '95
clients and most of the problems are there. JDE are telling us that an
upgrade to Windows NT will resolve the problems (This is now a concern since
I see from the list that these errors occur in Windows 2000 too).

Our immediate concern, however, is Batch Control (P0011). Nearly all
Windows '95 users get this error when using this application (we have our
library cache set = 20).

Has anyone else experienced this problem. I have thought to go through the
function with logging on and then to map all the BSFNs to run on the server.
Would this help ?

Any thoughts would be great appreciated

David,

The JDE document ODS-00-0125 recommends this setting on page 6, but there is
a space between the two words:

Library Cache=20

Should there be a space in there or not?

Thanks,

Viorel

FYI:
We are at XE SP 15, and do not experience this problem, although we did have several issues before we went to the SP. Also we had to put Update 1 on, because it resolved so many issues. This update is hugh, and affects thousands and thousands of objects. We also have all the setting in place that are in this thread. We still have some issues, but relatively minor. I would be totally against using Windows 95, and I doubt JDE recommends it. Windows 95 is not very stable with OneWOrld - - Or with much else..ha!

Almost all of our PCs have 196MB of memory as well, with the Pagesys file set to 2.5x greater than the physical memory. This is a general rule of thumb for the Pagesys file, but JDE would also recommend you do this.
