OW: AS/400 XE STRNET not opening 6009 listener

Has anyone else been experiencing this with XE on the AS/400?

Take SBS JDE7333 down or IPL.

Start the JDE Services by logging in as OneWorld and selecting option 14 from
the menu (Start JDE Services)

Result: No one can log in

Go to Netstat *CPP and shows that listener 6009 not open

Stop SBS
CLRIPC
STRNET

Now netstat *cpp shows port 6009 listening and users can log in.

I've seen this at several different clients. Has anyone been able to address
this issue?

Yes, we have experienced what seems like the same problem, port 6009 for some unknown reason is not active when OneWorld is brought back up. However, we have not had the problem in a while. We recently upgraded to V4R5 also but that is not to say the problem still does not exist or is lurking. We were unable to determine the cause when it was happening.

In a show of support, we have been experiencing it as well. I had a call with JDE open, but we could find nothing apparently wrong. It happens whenever we re-IPL.

We are on V4R5 and do have this problem unfortunately we do not have reasons
for the problem or resolution other than stopping the services and restarting
them again and then all is fine,

Anthony,

What are your joblogs telling you? Usually you can scan your joblogs and
determine if there is some sort of process lock or other type of issue
taking place.

I have seen similar issues with an Oracle Gateway on a 400 - it was a
sequence issue...

Hope this helps...

Has anyone found the cause of this problem or come up with a cure? Is this occuring on any SP's above 13.1? Sounds like it still occurs on OS version V4R5.

We found it didn't happen as often if I included the security kernel in the services startup, but it still happens more often than I would like.

Thanx much

Here's something to look at: Check the AS400 Service Table Entries for 'jde_server' (CFGTCP, 21, 1).

We had an entry out there for port 6003 (B7331??) but not 6009. I think this should be edited during the OneWorld install. Try adding an entry for a 'tcp' and a 'udp' protocol and see if the problem goes away. I just did this, but won't know if it worked for a couple weeks (vacation).

Best wishes

I have had the same issue. Called JDEdwards no help.
Workaround: I wrote a CL that brings the services down and
brings them back up twice.

Re: RE: OW: AS/400 XE STRNET not opening 6009 listener

We had a similar, if not the same problem. We first tried the autostart of the Security Kernel, which helped, but did not eliminate the problem. JDE support suggested renaming the CLEANUP PGM in B7333SYS, so it would not run at OneWorld startup. I changed this 2 months ago and I haven't had a problem with OW logons yet. The CLEANUP pgm will have to be run occasionally until this is resolved in a SP.

Re: RE: OW: AS/400 XE STRNET not opening 6009 listener

Hi

We had this problem also. We changed the name of the Cleanup program and haven't had the problem since.

Does anyone know what the Cleanup program actually does?

Kind regards
Terry
