Simple question about installing ESU\'s

Folks I need my mind refreshed about applying ESU's. After I apply the ESU, the R96701 reports that a number of objects were applied, then another column that says '# of objects Not Applied' . Why wouldn't objects be applied? Is it because the specs of those objects on my machine are more current (or the same) than the specs contained in the ESU? If so, using the Force Object property would be a bad thing, correct?

Normally you would not want to force the objects to be applied as this would overwrite the current (and possibly more recent objcts)
