JD Edwards backup to recover Deployment Server

How it is possible to restore the deployment server if the whole server crashes(disk crashes)? I understand that RAID 1 mirroring can be used to ensure that.

Can someone please explain the whole JDE backup strategy so that if any of the server crashes it can be restored?

Also please explain if any specific methodology is there for EnterpriseOne 8.12.

Is RAID 1 level of mirroring is the only method to restore any server when it crashes?

Even with RAID-1, if you lose data, the data is lost on both drives. Everything is mirrored including mistakes.

I suggest you speak with an experienced CNC consultant and your hardware vendor(s) to help you come up with a proper backup policy, process and solution.

No level of RAID should be considered as a backup. The primary advantages of RAID are redundancy and performance. If you lose a drive with RAID > 0, you can keep the system up and running while you recover the failed drive (provided you have a hot swappable drive array) and good hardware RAID solutions will begin the process of moving data back to the new drive.

A good backup strategy could include disk or tape backup, and moving your backups to an offsite location, away from the systems your backing up, is always a good idea. Even better, move them to a vault.

Hi, you need to have a recent backup from your OW directory (tape, disk etc.). In case the dep server is crashing you need to re-install OS (+ updates), re-install OW "fake installation" (+ Updates, ESU's, etc.), apply the SPC again and simply restore the old backup from the old deployemnt serevr (tape, disk etc.). Most of the time you should run a full client/server package in order to check if everything is still working.

Hope this helps.
