Negative default value in Data Dictionary definition?

I'd like to set a numeric data dictionary item's default value to -999, but the Data Dictionary program keeps stripping off the negative sign. Has anyone else ever done this, and if so, what did you have to do to make it happen?
 
Hi Don,

You have to change the Edit Code on the Display Rule tab in Data Dictinary.
BE CAREFULL!
This will change the behavior of this DD Item in all object.
Maybe this meets with your requirement, maybe do not.
