Hello

Does anyone know if JDE E1 run over AMD64 Processors ?
I want to migrate my E1 8.10/Tools 8.93
from IBM Intel x86/Windows Server 2003 Enterprise 32 bits/SQLServer 2000
to IBM AMD64/Windows Server 2003 Enterprose 64 bits/SQLServer 2000

Any feedback?

Thanks in advance,

Yes. and no.

There is another thread with this discussion - you should search for "AMD" or "Opteron" on the list.

The upshot is that JDE will support SQL Server running under 64bit - but only as a seperate database server. The application server side would still have to be 32bit, and of course you still need to run the 32bit client of whatever database you have. If you only have one enterprise server - it therefore needs to run 32bit OS code.

Secondly, I don't believe that JDE supports SQL Server 2000 on 64bit - but they do support SQL2005 on 64bit. You have to confirm all of this information with the latest MTR on the knowledge garden prior to purchasing.

I don't believe that you'll see really much benefit to running 64bit as a database server - due to the way that OneWorld communicates to the database - but the big difference is the extra memory that can be addressed.

Hi Javier,

You can have SQL 2005 64 bits but it has to be running on
a separate box from the Enterprise Server.
So, you'd need two servers : one for SQL 64 bit and
another for E810 services.
As Jon said, its main advantage would be large memory
allocation.
