Cranky - Haven\'t had my coffee yet ...
The incidence of posts to the List/Forum with no configuration information has been on the rise over the last month or two. I haven't had my coffee yet and am feeling cranky so I'm taking the opportunity to share some rules of common courtesy when participating in a forum or mailing list such as this.
1. If you expect people to help you, provide the information on your configuration that tells us your platform, OS Version, DB version, OW version, etc. The reasons why are obvious. Conversely if you are providing suggestions share the same since what workd on one version may not in another.
It is very provincial thinking to assume that everyone out there has the same configuration as you do. This has been a repeated request on the list/forum to include configuration info (platform, OS Version, DB version, OW version) in your posts.
2. If you receive advice that helps you, be sure and thank those who provided the advice. Generally everyone on the forum/list follows this basic rule very well - but there have been a few exceptions.
3. If you initiated a thread/issue please update it with your final resolution.
4. Don't start a new thread/issue by responding to an email or post that is completely unrelated to your issue. Just start a new one instead. This does not apply to threads that mutate - I'm talking about totally unrelated issues.
I know for many people this is their first exposure to a mailing list or forum and they were ignorant of basic "netiquette" but now you have been informed.
I'm going to get my coffee now ...
