Legendary Poster
After todays announcement from Oracle about ERP 9.0, and the fact that OneWorld is 10 years old this year - I thought it would be apt to create a nice little competition for JDEListers !

I have an original J.D. Edwards IPO perspex certificate - you know the ones they gave away to all the employees - to whoever is first to post the answer to this easy question...a nice piece of history!

"Who was the first COMPANY to go live on J.D. Edwards OneWorld ?"

Here are the rules !

1. You must provide the FULL NAME of the company and the DATE they went live. No acronyms !
2. You must post your answer in this JDEList thread !
3. Whoever posts the correct answer in the thread FIRST will win !

I'll either be able to meet you at Quest to hand over the prize - or I'll be able to mail it directly to you. Whoever wins will get contacted by me through the board.

Re: A bit of fun - who went live first on OneWorld

I dont know who it was, but I bet they had a lot of fun getting it to run correctly. Good idea for a contest though. I am actually interested to see who it was.

Re: A bit of fun - who went live first on OneWorld

XSE Group Incorporated, May 1999

Guess #1

Re: A bit of fun - who went live first on OneWorld

LOL!

I think that might be the 1000th customer that went live !!!!!

Keep guessing !

Dang !! For once Google fails me here.

LOL

No way - JDE didn't go live until much later - I was the CNC consultant that did the IPS/PSW !

However, that reminds me of something that I could use as another good question. I have a JDE Training Cube as a runner up prize for the following questions. Of course, you have to answer the first question first !

1. What was the codename for OneWorld (easy peasy)
2. What was the project called for implementing oneworld internally ? (full name - not acronym)
3. When did JDE go live on Oneworld internally ? (you might be able to google this one !)

lol

thats the easiest answer ! it won't get a prize on its own unfortunately !

Each day that there isn't a correct answer - I'll be leaving clues in this thread ...

Ushio America, Inc. - June 1996 first customer to go live with OneWorld

Well done !

If anyone has the old "J.D. Edwards Milestones" poster (which can be found here : http://www.jdedwards.com/content/enUS/News&Events-News/milestones.pdf) - you'll see the following entries :

OneWorld® Announced
November 1995 — J.D. Edwards officially announces OneWorld at its Corporate Kickoff meeting.

OneWorld Goes Live
June 1996 — Ushio America becomes the first customer to go live with OneWorld.

Configurable Network Computing™ Arrives
June 1996 — J.D. Edwards introduces OneWorld in the Wall Street Journal as "Configurable Network Computing" — a step beyond client/server.

Wierd how a customer can go live on OneWorld before CNC is even announced !!!!

Larry - I'll bring your prize to Quest and to my presentation :

Educational Breakout Session 13070: Migrating JD Edwards EnterpriseOne from AS/400 to SQL Server

So does anyone know the project name for implementing OneWorld internally at JDE ? And anyone know the date ?

The first clue is it was in QA

Re: RE: Competition - a bit of fun - who went live first on OneWorld

LOL

jdekrnl is on the right track - but its a little more convoluted than "proof" !

RE: RE: Competition - a bit of fun - who went live first on OneWorld

Sorry about that. I hope to not learn any further details!

Before proceeding, aim away from your keyboard.

Actually, I remember a Fortune interview/story from three years ago about
Larry Ellison in which the author said that he was trying to be photographed
eating a bowl of dogfood because that illustrated Oracle's using its own
software. But, fortunately (or rather, unfortunately), smarter heads
prevailed and he didn't post that way. Our loss!
