Insurance

We have a need to capture and store insurance information (property, casuality, etc., such as fire insurance on buildings) and then bill back to the various business units accrued and other insurance expenses. Does anyone know if JDE can do this, and if so where (menu and/or files)? I've looked through our documentation and haven't found anything as of yet so wondering what others are doing and have done.

Val,

If you just want to "charge back" to business units (weekly, monthly,
annually etc) then I suggest you should look at using allocation
journals from within GL or FASTR created journals using some form of
calculation. Then again, depending when in your business processes you
know the value of what needs to be "billed back", you could use model
journals on their own or in conjunction with the GL dissection on
incoming insurance invoices.

In simple terms there are a number of approaches

Assuming you want to charge back to tenants within properties (ie a
"Business Unit" represents a "Property), I believe this is possible -
you might find some intro to the details by looking under "expense
participation" within PM or the User Reference Guide(s) for PM.

Then again you might want to do both - in which case I suggest you
contact one of several, good, independent, consultants in North America
who specialise in Property Management.
