Full Package Building

We have AS 400 e series, on which we have installed JD Edwards One world xe. COnfiguration of AS 400 server is as below.

1 gb ram
180 gb hdd
with netfinity card.

NT deployment serever is through netfinity card.

We are planning to go live, but before that we have to do full package building for nos. of esu 4 & workaround (2 Application programm & 6 ERW reports).

Before this once we have tried for full package building that time there was only one esu was there, no workaround. It has taken 3 days for package building.

I would like to know how much day it will take for Package Building.

Where are your Central Objects located? If they are on AS/400, then you should have data compression turned on in Client Access Express (as suggested in earlier thread). The package build will depend on how many mods you have done.

Shyam,

I don't know how many users you have and how heavy you
are using Sales Order Processing program P4210. But if
you are heavy in using SOP and you have at least 100
end users and at least 70% of the end users are
simultaneously using the P4210 program, you need
approximately 8 GB of RAM and 400 GB HDD.

If a full package build is taking 3 days, then I would expect there are
configuration issues. For an AS/400 170, 1-way, with 2 GB of memory, (a
relatively low end box), with an older integrated Netfinity card, 333MHz
1-way, 1GB memory, as the deployment server. A full package build, client
and server, took around 11 hours.

I would be suspect of either the compression settings for the ODBC
datasource for central objects, (compression should be on), or the network
speed, (everything, including 400 line, switch ports & NT card properties),
should be set to 100Mb/ full duplex, assuming you're running 100Mb ethernet

also, check that you are current with the informational APAR for your
release. Can be found at

http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/service/bms/jde-support.htm

There were some issues with a DB fix pack last summer, and there was a bad
PTF that basically broke compression. This caused very slow build times.
This has been fixed on subsequent fix packs and if you are current with the
informational APAR, should be in good shape.

Check which portion of the build is taking a long time. If it is the
communications parts, check the points above. If it is the build on the
Deplyment server, check NT tuning and swap space. if it is the 400 biz
build part, check multi-threading the jobQ or 400 tuning.

This has been mentioned in previous threads, (with much better explanations
on troubleshooting then I am giving!), so you might check the JDELIST
website for past entries.

Good Luck!
